So I’m a total dork, sue me. This morning I ran a sim of Super Bowl XL on EA Sports’ Madden ‘06. I tried to set it up as similar as I could to what the actual game will be… All-Madden difficulty, 15 minute quarters, the latest rosters, played in Detroit with Pittsburgh as the home team (but wearing their away jerseys), etc..
The result was a total blowout; Steelers: 54, Seahawks: 14. After looking over the stats of the game, I think it was a little one-sided; Seattle’s quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw 13 interceptions in the game… 10 in the first half (hah). So… not too realistic. If he throws for 13 interceptions today, I think he’ll be flipping burgers instead of playing quarterback next season :-)
My prediction for the real game? Pittsburgh: 27, Seattle: 24
By the way, the EA guys ran the sim a few days ago and the Steelers came out on top 24-19.

I just finished getting Mint up and running. So far, it looks pretty slick and there are a ton of Peppers (plugins) around that record all kind of crazy stats. Once it’s been up and running for a while and actually starts collecting some data, I’ll post more about it.

Last week, I came across a story on KGW.com about a dog that was thrown from a moving car by some drunken jackass in Newport, Oregon. From the article:
A drunk Oregon man threw a dog out of a fast-moving car on Highway 101 and later assaulted a corrections officer in jail, police said Thursday.
The dog, which didn’t belong to the man, survived with minor injuries.
[...]
“Further investigation revealed a passenger of the Ford Bronco identified as Danny McFadden… allegedly threw the driver’s pet dog out of vehicle as it was traveling about 55 mph,” said OSP Lt. Kelly Collins.
