I just updated the site to WordPress 3.0. Please let me know if you run into any problems.
I also decided to turn off comments on my posts. I no longer have the desire to spend time dealing with spam comments and I don’t get very many comments that aren’t spam (and get even fewer useful comments).
There will be some other changes coming soonish as well. Stay tuned.

Nana at my uncle’s house in December 2009.
It seems like it was just yesterday that I got the call about my dad and, early this morning, I got another one telling me that my grandmother (my mom’s mom) passed away at around 10 AM Eastern time.
I really, really wish my family members would stop dying unexpectedly :-(
Rest in peace, Nana. I love you.

In case you haven’t noticed, I rolled out a few site changes earlier this afternoon. Here’s a breakdown of what’s changed and what’s new:
New logo & headline font
Another thing I’d never been totally happy with was the font I was using in the logo and headlines. So I took some time earlier and found one I liked. I’m now using the excellent Astonished font from Misprinted Type.
Navigation
I was never really happy with the previous nav layout and have been too lazy to turn it into a tabbed look so I moved it up into the header.
Sidebar
Since the nav is now in the header, I moved the search box over to the sidebar. I also moved the random photo out of the footer and into the sidebar. While I was at it, I got rid of the ugly-ass Playstation Network badge. It’s always bugged me that I couldn’t change how it looked (I really want to be able to customize it like the Xbox Live badge). So, until there’s an API or the trophy data is scrapeable and I can control how it looks, it had to go.
Quick Links
Since I moved the random photo to the sidebar, I opened a slot in the footer for something I’ve been meaning to add for a while. It’s nothing fancy, just a list of the stuff I’ve come across and found useful enough to share.
Comments
Comments are now automatically turned off after 90 days. Sorry folks, but the few useful ones I get are far outweighed by the number of spam comments I have to moderate.

Since I can’t figure out a way to share my wishlist via iTunes, I thought I’d post it here. If you want to show me some love, feel free to use the “Gift This App” functionality in iTunes ;) My email address (iTunes will ask for it) is mij@soupnazi.org.
Note: Prices below reflect the prices in the App Store as of April 28, 2010.

One of the huge things on my plate at work over the last few months was to build a new Photoshop Elements Techniques web site. I’m happy to say that the site launched a little over a week ago—and, yes, I’m a little late with this post. Here’s a preview (click the image to visit the site):

Powered by WordPress
The entire site was built on WordPress (with the exception of the gallery and store, and those will be handled by WordPress soonish). I won’t get into too many details about how it works, but I will say that, in places, I had to seriously bend WordPress to my will to make things work the way we wanted. Overall though, I’m extremely happy that we’re using WordPress.
