Hitting a home run

This is one of the most addictive games I’ve played on my iPhone (Frenzicicon is another) and, at 99 cents, it’s definitely worth the download. icon

Playing with Pano

April 18th, 2009  |  7:26 pm

The other night while I was browsing the iTunes App Store, I came across Panoicon.

Panoicon is an app that allows you to take panoramic photos directly from your phone. The part that really caught my interest is that the stitching happens directly on the phone so there’s no need to merge the photos with desktop software afterwards (which can be a pain in the ass).

After I mowed the lawn today, I was hanging out on the deck with the dogs and thought I’d give it a try. Here are the two panoramas I took:

Deck and part of the yard

The deck and part of the yard.

My 5 most-used 3rd-party iPhone apps; revisited

March 2nd, 2009  |  6:20 pm

Back in October, I wrote about my 5 most-used 3rd-party iPhone apps. Since then, a few of my top 5 have changed, so I figured I’d update the list:

Tweetie ($2.99)icon
By far the best Twitter client for the iPhone. It’s not free, but it’s worth every penny.
Frenzic ($4.99)icon
Absolutely and ridiculously addictive. I cannot stop playing this game. You can link your account up with the Frenzic web site and add friends, compare stats, and more.

Just in time for Valentine's Day

February 13th, 2009  |  7:23 pm

Since Tiff and I really don’t ever do holidays, I decided this year I’d write an iPhone app (well, a webapp) for her. So, last night, I did. When it was finished I realized that, with some tweaks, it might be useful for other folks out there with iPhones or iPod touches that want to give their significant others a geeky Valentine’s Day gift.

IMPORTANT: If you don’t have an iPhone or an iPod touch, don’t bother. It won’t work. The code relies on some CSS stuff only found in Mobile Safari (and possibly some WebKit nightlies) and won’t work in normal desktop browser. Again, it WILL NOT WORK IN A REGULAR BROWSER.

To customize the app for your Valentine, visit either one of the links below using your iPhone or iPod touch. Both go to exactly the same place, but the 2nd will likely be faster and easier to type on your iPhone/iPod touch.

Once you fill in the form and click submit, you can add it to your (or your S.O.’s) home screen or have it email the link to it to them. Just click the plus sign at the bottom of the Mobile Safari window.

Please let me know if you run into any problems or have any questions.

Enjoy!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these, so here’s the latest installment of the iPhone apps I currently have installed on my iPhone. I’ve trimmed down what I have installed a little bit :-)
