Wiiiiiiiiiiii!
Thanks to Neal and his never-ending supply of contacts, we finally got a Wii this past Friday! We’ve been playing pretty much non-stop since, and it’s absolutely amazing.
A bunch of friends came over on Friday and Saturday night, created Miis of themselves, and we all played Wii Sports (particularly bowling and tennis). We also played a few games of Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, and Donkey Kong Jr. on the virtual console. It’s been a while since I stayed up all night, but it was a lot of fun. Also, while I have no Wii-related injuries to report, a bunch of us did wake up with stiff/sore shoulders and elbows on Saturday and Sunday :-)
I spent a lot of last night and tonight playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I loved the original Zelda when it came out for the NES (I haven’t actually played a Zelda game since), and my feelings about this one are pretty much the same. I was worried that using the Wii-mote and nunchuck to control Link (the character in the game) might be bit odd and take some getting used to, but it works really well and picking it up was a piece of cake (it’s particularly fun in sword fights and fishing).
To make a long(er) story short, this thing is a blast. It’s so much fun that one of our friends even bought their own Wii-mote (and got the last one after calling 5 or 6 stores) so it’d be here when they come over. If you’ve been thinking about getting a Wii and can manage to track one down, it’s definitely worth picking up.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, it’s my turn to bowl :-)
