Owned.

For those of you who haven’t heard, the company I work for has been bought by CNET. If you read the comments on that blog post, the reaction from the Mac community has been mixed, although most of the comments sway towards the negative.

Speaking unofficially, the people who are upset really have nothing to be upset about (I phrased that as pleasantly as possible for you Rick ;-)). VersionTracker and MacFixIt are going to stay the way they are now and will still be run by the same people. Those folks who are flipping out about CNET coming in and lopping the head off the Mac focus of the sites really need to sit back and relax a bit because they have no idea what they’re talking about.

Seriously, folks. This is a good thing for both organizations. We now have more money for things we badly need (like more servers, etc.) and CNET gets a handful of sites that will expand their Mac presence greatly. There’s no nefarious plan, no Windows DVD-wielding demon making us all install Vista and throw out our Macs. Why all the hate?
