I'm surrounded by idiots.
Sigh. Some moron at work (who shall remain nameless) just spammed pretty much everyone in the company’s address book with the Microsoft and AOL Beta Test email hoax. For those of you who haven’t seen it before, here’s what happens:
- Idiot A receives email from Idiot B telling them that if they forward the email to as many people as they know, Microsoft will keep track of it over a period of two weeks and send them $245 (or some other amount) for each email.
- Idiot B believes this obvious retardation and forwards it to the eleventy billion people in their corporate address book.
- I receive it in my inbox with 345,723 lines of other Cc’d recipients.
- I promptly post here publicly (yet anonymously—I kind of need to keep my job) calling Idiot B an idiot.
For the love of whatever god you worship, do not forward this nonsense on to anyone. Microsoft and AOL are not going to make you rich. They are not tracking your email. Please, don’t be Idiot A or B—the people in your corporate address book will thank you.
