GarageBand 3's Podcast Studio
After watching Steve Jobs’ demo of GarageBand 3 yesterday (more specifically, the Podcast Studio part), I really wanted to try it out. At lunch, Neal and I went over to the Apple Store closest to work to pick up a copy of iLife ‘06 (which GarageBand is a part of). Unfortunately, they didn’t have it in stock yet, but we back at lunch today and managed to pick up a copy.
After I got it iLife ‘06 installed on my PowerBook, I fired up GarageBand and tried out the podcasting stuff. Two words: holy crap. Apple’s made it extremely easy to create a podcast with GarageBand, and the speech enhancer and ducking make it sound really good even when using the internal mic.
Tomorrow afternoon, we’re going to try recording the first few takes of our first podcast for work (one using the internal mic, one using the iMic and external mic to see what works better). If all goes well, I’m hoping we get it to a final state next week sometime and get it online the following week. I’ll post a link to it once it’s up.
In other podcast news, Neal and I are going to do our own outside of work. I’m not going to divulge too much information at this point, but hopefully it’ll end up as funny (and fun) as we think it will. Stay tuned for more info on that.
