Evolution on Mac OS X
Back in March when Novell released a build of Evolution for Mac OS X, I eagerly downloaded it with the hope that I could ditch Entourage at work and use Evolution instead (I’d rather be using Mail.app but, as I’ve written about before, that’s just not an option with the setup we have at the office).
Unfortunately, there were problems with the Exchange Connector (it was missing from the build) so I wasn’t able to actually use it. I’d been periodically checking the bug that was filed about it over the past few months since a new release was originally promised in July (which never happened), and was pretty excited when I noticed this follow-up comment. Yesterday afternoon, I downloaded and installed the latest build and, I’m pleased to say, it’s been working great (so far anyway).
Here’s a screenshot:

If you’re stuck in a Microsoft Exchange environment with IMAP turned off and dislike Entourage, it might be worth giving Evolution a try. You can download the latest build from Novell Forge, but be sure to read the comments on the bug I mentioned earlier for some tips and instructions on making it work.
Good luck!
