Update #2

I tweaked the times a little again. The night theme now shows from 8pm-7am (this’ll probably change back to 9pm again during the summer).

Update:

Since we’re in daylight savings time, I’ve tweaked the times a little. The day theme will be shown from 7am-9pm and the night theme from 9pm-7am.

If you’ve visited this site up until now (well, at least since the redesign), you would’ve seen this no matter what time of day it was:

Now, if it’s after 7pm Pacific time, you’ll see this:

Say what?

It’s pretty simple, really. The look of the site changes depending on the time of day in my timezone—PST (PDT if we’re in daylight savings time). There’s a very small, very simple chunk of code in the header that sets the stylesheet based on the time (hint: see this post).

If it’s between 7am and 7pm, you’ll see the day theme. If it’s between 7pm and 7am, you’ll see the night theme. I might tweak the times a little bit (for example, I might make the day theme display between 7am-9pm and the night theme display between 9pm-7am) and at some point I may add some additional chunks of time in there (sunrise, sunset, etc.) but for now it’s just day and night.

Is that all?

Yep! Sorry to disappoint if you were expecting something earth shattering ;-)

Anyway, if you find anything broken or displaying incorrectly, please let me know. Be sure to let me know which browser (Firefox, Safari, IE, etc.) and OS (Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, whatever) you’re using and I’ll get it fixed.
